At Smart Clear Vision, sustainability is not a marketing buzzword — it is built into what we do. Every refurbished TV and monitor we sell is a product that might otherwise have ended up in landfill. The E-Waste Problem

The UK produces approximately 1.5 million tonnes of electronic waste annually — one of the highest rates per capita globally. TVs and monitors are among the most problematic items in the e-waste stream. They contain plastics that take centuries to decompose, rare earth metals that are energy-intensive to mine, and components that can leach harmful chemicals into soil and groundwater.

Globally, only 17% of e-waste is properly recycled. The rest ends up in landfill or is exported to developing countries with inadequate processing facilities. This is not just an environmental issue — it is a human health issue.

• Less raw material extraction — Manufacturing a new TV requires mining metals, producing plastics, and assembling components. A refurbished TV requires none of this.
• Lower carbon footprint — The carbon cost of manufacturing a new 50-inch TV is estimated at 350-500kg of CO2. Refurbishing and delivering the same TV produces a fraction of that.
• Reduced landfill volume — Every TV we sell is one less in the waste stream. A typical 50-inch TV weighs 12-15kg of materials that would otherwise need processing.

Our Process

Every product that enters our facility goes through a rigorous testing and grading process. Units that pass our functional tests are cleaned, graded, and made available for sale. Units that cannot be brought to a sellable standard are responsibly recycled through certified WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) channels.

We do not cut corners on testing. Every screen is checked for defects, every port is verified, and every smart feature is tested. This thorough approach means our refurbished products are reliable — which means they stay in use longer, delivering even more environmental benefit.
